Syracuse women’s basketball adds Morgan State to schedule

The Orange will host the Bears on Dec. 28 at 7 p.m.

The Syracuse Orange women’s basketball team has expanded their 2020-21 schedule to include Morgan State (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference). Syracuse will host the Lady Bears on December 28 at 7 p.m. on ACC Network.

Syracuse holds a 2-0 overall record against Morgan State. The teams last met in 2017, where freshman Digna Strautmane (17 points) and Amaya Finklea-Guity (11) contributed double-digit scoring to lead the Orange to a 95-68 win.

The Bears currently hold a 2-0 record on the season with wins over UMBC and Saint Peter’s.

The Orange currently stand at 4-1 on the season with a 1-1 mark in Atlantic Coast Conference play.

‘Cuse suffered its first loss of the season at North Carolina Thursday night, 92-68. The Tar Heels dominated the Orange on both ends of the court, holding Syracuse to 29.3 percent shooting. Emily Engstler (18 pts & 10 rebounds) and Kamilla Cardoso (11 & 13) tallied their first double-doubles of the season in that loss. No other Syracuse player contributed more than five points in the contest, including Tiana Mangakahia, who was held to three points and one assist.

The Orange will continue on their road trip to Boston College on Sunday for a 2 p.m. ET match-up. The game will air on the ACC Network.
