Recruiting season is back! College football’s early signing period begins today for the class of 2021, and the Syracuse Orange are adding new recruits starting Wednesday (through maybe Friday). As each player signs on the dotted line, we’re posting profiles here on TNIAAM. Next up is Umari Hatcher, wide receiver from Virginia.
Twitter feed: @HatcherUmari

Previous School: Freedom
Stats: 6’3”, 175 lbs.
Commitment date: September 4, 2020
Position: Wide Receiver

Other Offers: Hatcher was looked at by Penn State, UNC, Indiana, ECU, Maryland, and Liberty.
Dino’s projected nickname: “Showtime”
Player Breakdown: If you’re a lanky receiver with high upside, you can bet the Syracuse staff is going to come calling and Hatcher is no exception. Playing both sides of the ball, Hatcher shows off his physicality on defense and speed on offense. Unsurprisingly, Hatcher looks great in space with a lot of his success coming after the catch, which should fit right in to Syracuse’s offense. Hatcher is coming into a crowded, but unproven, offensive group that may limit his time on the field at first. However, his defensive ability should not be forgotten, and opens the door for plenty of special teams work and position swaps if necessary. That shouldn’t be the expectation as Hatcher was a top target for the staff and should vie for time in non-conference games his freshman season.
