It’s early signing season, which means it’s time to get excited for the newest crop of Syracuse Orange players. Syracuse will add recruits to the program between Wednesday through Friday, but expect most players to sign on Wednesday. As each signing is confirmed, we’ll post profiles here on TNIAAM. Up next is Landon Morris, who is looking to use his unique skillset to add a dynamic option to the Orange offense.

Hometown: Fishers, Ind.
Previous School: Fishers
Stats: 6’5”, 210 lbs.
Commitment date: May 12, 2020
Position: Tight End
Ratings: Three stars all-around. Morris is the 24th-ranked player in the state by 247sports. He was also ranked the ninth best H-Tight End by Sports Illustrated.
Other Offers: Morris included Iowa State and UCF in his final three schools. Other schools to offer Morris included Boston College and Michigan.
Dino’s projected nickname: “All Decepticons, mobilize. Megatron is coming to Syracuse.”
Player Breakdown: Don’t be surprised if we see a position change here for Morris. He doesn’t line up once on his tape at tight end. In fact, all of his plays show him line up at outside wide receiver. Given his height, he could be the next Syracuse wide receiver to set record-breaking numbers under Dino Babers. Morris showcases great ability to create space from defenders with footwork, with his height helping him reach over guys easily for catches. He also bullies opposing cornerbacks when he needs to block on screens or run plays. I don’t know how much that blocking will translate to collegiate linebackers and defensive linemen. This is a guy that Sterlin Gilbert needs to throw to. He can’t have him block for more than 50% of the snaps he’s in the game for. Otherwise, Morris could be set up to be wasted. His skillset shows immense promise in the receiving game, and he should be utilized as such.
