We’ve got fresh faces joining the Syracuse Orange starting today with the early signing period underway. Syracuse will add recruits to the program between Wednesday through Friday, but expect most players to sign on Wednesday. As each signing is confirmed, we’ll post profiles here on TNIAAM. Now we look at Justin Lamson, the next quarterback to arrive in Central New York.

Hometown: El Dorado Hills, Calif.
Previous School: Oak Ridge
Stats: 6’3”, 210 lbs.
Commitment date: July 3, 2020
Position: Quarterback
Ratings: Three stars all-around. Lamson is the 20th-ranked dual threat quarterback in the nation and the 50th-ranked player in the state by 247sports.
Other Offers: Lamson included Louisville, San Jose State, and Wyoming in his final schools. He also received offers from Boise State, Dartmouth, New Mexico State, and Sacramento State, among others.
Dino’s projected nickname: “Be frightened when the Silence of the Lamson comes to the Carrier Dome”
Player Breakdown: At first glance, we may have another Eric Dungey on our hands. Lamson shows great touch on sideline deep throws that are placed really well beyond the reach of cornerbacks. He also shows that he can zip the ball over the middle if needed, but it’s clear that the sideline and the soft touch over the defense is his preferred passing option. His running is solid as well whether on designed runs or on scramble plays, but what impresses me the most about Lamson is his composure. He seems very level-headed when he needs to escape the pocket. More importantly, he keeps his eyes upfield in order to keep the pass as his first option when outside the pocket instead of scrambling upfield unnecessarily.
