Syracuse’s Suffocating Defense

Not only did Syracuse leave Boston College on 63 points, but they also held them to shooting 31.7% from the field. But wait, there’s more! It gets even better. The Orange held Boston College to 21.4% shooting from deep. Interestingly, Syracuse combined for 8 steals along with a whopping 0 blocks. A team with no dominant big will struggle to score against this Syracuse team.

Buddy Is Still Buddy

Buddy Boeheim has missed the last three games because he was exposed to someone with COVID-19. As much as I want to rave about how having him for the Rutgers game could have had Syracuse sitting on a 5-0 record, I’ll just fight the urge and stick to the Boston College game.

As expected, Boeheim was still the lethal shooter he always has been beyond the arc. He hit 3 threes this game and his length in the zone was on display all game. Boeheim recorded 2 steals tonight. Seeing him play with Kadary Richmond, who is currently ranked 13th in steals for the NCAA, is bad news for everyone but Syracuse and Orange fans. Watching those two is like watching swiper do what he does. Richmond had 4 steals of his own against BC.

Joe’s Best Game This Season

Joe Girard has found his stroke. He only missed two shots today, going 6-8 from the field recording 17 points, 5 assists, and 5 rebounds. This was a great bounce back game for him considering this season has not done him justice so far.

I expected the Orange to comeback this game and to get into their offensive rhythm again so that they could make up for their late game scoring drought against Rutgers, but by all means I didn’t expect it to be the game Girard finally showed up. Look, I get it. Joe Girard is a great scorer. His special ability though comes from his shooting and we just got reaffirmed that his form is still true.
