The Syracuse Orange women’s basketball team has improved one spot in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll this week. ‘Cuse stands at No. 22 in the rankings after winning its season opener against Stony Brook.
The Orange received 142 points in the poll this week.
Two other Atlantic Coast Conference schools are ranked, including No. 5 Louisville (2-0) and No. 8 NC State (2-0). North Carolina (24), Notre Dame (20), Wake Forest (9), Boston College (1), and Duke (1) also received votes this week.

On Sunday, Syracuse defeated Stony Brook on Long Island to open their 2020-21 slate with a 50-39 win. It was a game of defensive strategy, as both teams tallied over 20 turnovers and shot under 30 percent from the field.
In her first college basketball game in 615 days, Tiana Mangakahia stuffed the stat sheet with 16 points, seven rebounds, four steals, and three assists. Despite her stat line, during the postgame press conference, Mangakahia rated her performance as an 85...Watch out for that 100, ACC teams.
Kiara Lewis also had a good showcase with eight points and seven rebounds. Freshman Kamilla Cardoso tallied 14 points and seven rebounds off the bench in 13 minutes.
The Orange will host Division II Lincoln on Wednesday for their home opener at 6 p.m ET.
