With the Syracuse Orange win, football of all forms becomes slightly more enjoyable at all levels. With 8 former Orange stars on active rosters (and more on practice squads), our Orange in the NFL recaps are filling out nicely. (All stats from NFL.com)
Justin Pugh, Arizona Cardinals
The Arizona Cardinals were on their bye week.
Alton Robinson, Seattle Seahawks
The Seahawks continued their march through the NFC with a 37-27 win over the San Fransisco 49ers, and many here worried that the Seattle acquisition of Carlos Dunlap would mean less of Alton. Robinson must have thought the same thing, and had the game of his young career, racking up 3 total tackles and another sack, cementing the Joker has one of the future pieces along this line.
Riley Dixon, New York Giants
The Giants dropped a close one to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday night, 25-23. The former Heisman snub punted 4 times, average 36 yards per punt with none of them returned and 2 pinning the Bucs inside their own 20.
Zaire Franklin, Indianapolis Colts
The Colts blew out the Detroit Lions 41-21, and Zaire didn’t see the field on defense. However, he did see the field on 25 special teams snaps.
Sterling Hofrichter, Atlanta Falcons
The Falcons won Thursday night against the Carolina Panthers 25-17, and Hof had his quietest game of the season, punting only once. The punt was just 39 yards, but was fair caught and pinned the Panthers inside their own 20.
Trishton Jackson, Los Angeles Rams
Jackson was inactive for the Rams loss to the Miami Dolphins.
Doug Marrone, Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jaguars were on their bye week, and did not relieve Marrone of his coaching duties, so that’s a positive for the former Orange head coach and player.
Out for the Season with Injury
Chandler Jones, Arizona Cardinals
Glad to see some solid names getting some run in the newest NFL season.
