After a grueling week in which the Syracuse Orange overcame the Bye Week Fightin’ Byes, Dino Babers and Co. return to action against the Louisville Cardinals. That means it’s time for a depth chart, and this week’s version features one noticeable tweak as well as a funny error.
Here is Syracuse's depth chart for the Louisville game on Friday. The biggest note is that JaCobian Morgan officially moves into the starting role at quarterback. Rex Culpepper goes back to QB2. pic.twitter.com/eiPdXH4Jws— Christian De Guzman (@CTDeGuz) November 17, 2020
As a reminder, Syracuse’s depth charts under Dino Babers have usually been a reflection on how the team lined up in its last game. However, the depth chart does confirm that JaCobian Morgan is in the driver’s seat for the first snaps under center when the Orange play the Cardinals on Friday night.
Of note, Rex Culpepper should be available after Babers confirmed that the redshirt senior returned to practice recently. Culpepper didn’t dress for the Boston College game after suffering an undisclosed injury, but Babers mentioned that Morgan earned the chance to start once again after his performance against the Eagles (he was 19-of-30 for 188 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT).
The depth chart also confirms that Aman Greenwood steps into the full-time starting free safety role after Trill Williams declared for the draft prior to the Boston College game. Adrian Cole steps into the backup position vacated by Greenwood. Funnily enough, Trill is still listed as the backup punt returner. Nykeim Johnson is the only player for Syracuse that has dropped back to return punts, so that isn’t the biggest issue in the world.
As usual, the sidelines will be monitored closely on Friday for any unreported injuries. Tune in to our pregame show on SportsCastr for the latest updates and previews 30 minutes prior to kickoff.
