With only two weeks remaining until the college basketball season begins, conferences around the country have been scrambling to put together league schedules due to myriad challenges brought on by the coronavirus pandemic.
The ACC is no different, coming in at the eleventh hour with its league schedule. In the process, the ACC subsequently released the Syracuse Orange’s 20-game league schedule for men’s basketball on the ACC Network Tuesday morning. The Orange knew who they would be playing, including repeat conference opponents of Boston College, Clemson, Louisville, North Carolina, NC State and Pittsburgh. Now Syracuse has dates to go along with ACC opponents.
Even with the schedule announcement, challenges will persist throughout the college basketball season. Coronavirus cases continue to rise domestically, a crosswind with Monday’s news from Pfizer, showing early analysis of its vaccine trial proved 90% effective in preventing the disease.
In the interim of distribution and other challenges, should one player test positive, the team will have to quarantine for two weeks, potentially foregoing four or five games. How those games are replaced and how teams are evaluated fairly by the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee are conversations for another day.
Here’s what we know about the Syracuse basketball schedule at this time:
