As we do every week, we’re tracking Syracuse Orange football uniform combinations, whether it has anything to do with wins and losses or not. On Wednesday morning, SU revealed what they’ll be wearing for this Saturday’s matchup with the Duke Blue Devils.

The Orange are busting out one of my favorite looks of the current set with what is certainly not a true “throwback” look for the Orange, but invokes a throwback feel with the white helmet and pants. In fact, with the current more traditional uniform look, this combo gives off a very Florida Gators vibe, as they have a similar jersey combination they complete with a script Gators on the helmets. (Hey, Cuse Equipment: do this please.)
The last time the Orange wore this combo was the only time the Orange wore this combo: the 2019 Western Michigan Broncos victory at the Carrier Dome. This is also just the 4th time the white helmets will be worn, the second time at home. (They’re 1-2 in them to date.) Similarly, this is the second of 5 times the Orange will be wearing white pants at home. (1-3 in White pants.) Finally, this is the 4th time we’ve seen the Orange jerseys broken out, in which the ORANGE are 1-2.
Again, I love this look for the modern vintage look, but know purists probably prefer last week’s “classic combo” more. What are your thoughts? Let us know in the comments.
