Syracuse women’s basketball vs. Notre Dame: TV/streaming, time, history & more

The Orange look to capitalize on some momentum following the Florida State upset.

Syracuse v Stanford: Greater Victoria Invitational

The Syracuse Orange Women’s basketball team looks to make it two in a row with another ACC win.

Teams: Syracuse Orange (7-6, 1-1) vs. Notre Dame (6-8, 1-1)

Day and Time: Sunday January 5, 4 p.m. ET.

Location: Carrier Dome

Where to Watch: ACC Network

Notre Dame Blog: One Foot Down

Current Record: 2-32, in favor of Notre Dame

Last Meeting: In the semi-final round of the ACC Tournament last season, the Irish torched Syracuse on their way to a 91-66 win. Don’t expect the score to be this bad today.

Head Coaches: Syracuse - Quentin Hillsman (14th season, 295-151 at SU). Notre Dame - Muffet McGraw (33rd season, 841-241 at ND).

Coach Bio: Muffet McGraw is one of the most revered head coaches in all of college basketball, as her over 900 career wins and two national championships has made Notre Dame a blueblood in women’s college basketball. She has been to nine Final Fours during her time with the Fighting Irish, and has won multiple Coach of the Year awards. She played her college ball at St. Joseph’s, and was the head coach at Lehigh before taking over at Notre Dame. Since entering the Atlantic Coast Conference, Mcgraw has led her team to a first place finish in every season.

Last Year: Last season, Notre Dame came so close to that third National Championship, but was edged out by Baylor. They beat UConn in the semifinal game, a team that beat them all the way back in early December of the same year.

Last Game: The Irish beat a weak Pitt team in the Steel City by a score of 60-52.

“Fear Me, I’ve Killed Hundreds of Timelords”: Anaya Peoples could pose a problem for Syracuse in the rebounding department. Last game, she recorded a double-double with 11 rebounds and 10 points. Emily Engstler and Amaya Finklea-Guity need to keep her quiet early. She is a non-threat from beyond the arc, so let’s hope no one else from the green and gold gets hot.

If Syracuse Wins: Really should win this game. Notre Dame just isn’t all that great this year, and riding the high off of last game should propel the Orange to an 8-6 record.

If Syracuse loses: Hangover from last game? Maybe. This loss could hurt come selection day, but lots of games left.
