Welcome to 2020 where the most important Syracuse Orange game preview series wishes you are about to embark on a prosperous year. Don’t worry we won’t demand that you wear anything other than Orange when you go to The Dome for any Syracuse game (no matter the sport).
Opponent: Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Location: South Bend, IN
Students: 12,607 students who are equally excited about the Yankees signing Gerrit Cole and the Dallas Cowboys getting a new Head Coach
The 2019-20 Fake Nunes Equation of Tumult (#FNET)
You wanted something more ridiculous than RPI and the NCAA gave you NET. We give you more ridiculousness so we bring back the FNET metric.
Head Coach Bench Attire:
Mike Brey is the head of #TeamNoTie but he needs to be careful not to go with the perpetual 5 o’clock shadow too often because that’s just too casual for the sidelines
Jim Boeheim’s attire mirrors the Syracuse winters- a lot of grey with some slight bits of color.
Advantage: Notre Dame
NBA 2K Playability:
Elijah Hughes was close to a triple double last week. The best part about a video game is that you can give the ball to the same player every time down the court. John Mooney’s a big inside threat but throwing the ball into the post is only something Boomers do when playing 2k.
Basketball Program Hashtag:
None vs #RunItBack
What exactly are the Irish running back this year? The 14 wins or the last place ACC finish? This really makes no sense at all.
ACC Social Media Favorites:
We mentioned John Mooney above and the double-double machine will never have to buy his own coffee in the Triangle when his college career is done.
Advantage: Notre Dame
Boeheim Jacket Toss Meter
8.7/10 The next six games will go a long way to determining Syracuse’s post-season chances. The Orange get the Irish twice in that timeframe and with the pressure on and Boeheim’s desire to get home in time to watch the Patriots playoff opener, the jacket could get an early toss.
Wrestling Theme Song for this game
Despite looking like he was born on the beaches of California, the Ultimate Warrior was actually an Indiana native. Let’s hope Syracuse can bring some of this intensity to the defensive end on Saturday.
Notre Dame dominates the glass from the start and Syracuse leans on Quincy Guerrier to provide some help inside. A second-half barrage from Joe Girard pushes the Orange to a close win.
