After another impressive week of basketball feats, the Syracuse Orange’s Buddy Boeheim has been named co-conference player of the week by the ACC — his first such honor this season.
While we’d obviously give him the honor outright after Saturday’s stunning performance including an emphatic “he can’t guard me” exclamation, it’s still nice to see the legend of Jackson Thomas Boeheim grow with each passing game this season.
For those that were not paying attention to what Buddy accomplished last week, he put up 22 points in a win over Boston College, and then 26 in SU’s road victory over Virginia Tech on Saturday. In the two games, he went 19-of-37 from the floor, and 9-for-20 from three-point range. He also scored 18 straight points against Tech, which was as insane as it sounds.
Florida State’s Devin Vassell was honored too, while averaging 20.5 points and eight boards for the ‘Noles. That’s cool. But... Buddy Boeheim.

Boeheim’s now among the top five scorers in the ACC, by points per game with 16.2. He’s also hit more threes than any other ACC player, knocking down 67 on 164 attempts.
If Buddy keeps this up, it’ll be the first of many honors this year and for his career. Big Buddy Boeheim is back in action this Wednesday against Notre Dame.
