After being pummeled by Maryland, the Syracuse Orange fell out of the top 25 and national perception followed.
If you had listened to any of the pre-weekend talk about Syracuse-Clemson, the common refrain you’d hear is “Syracuse plays Clemson tight,” or “Remember what happened the last time the Tigers went to the Carrier Dome.” It appears as if Vegas does not agree.
The Orange opened as 24.5 point underdogs to Clemson, with some lines going as high as 26 point underdogs.
The Orange open as HUGE dogs versus Clemson.

As a reminder, last year, the Orange lost to the Tigers in Death Valley 27-23. The year before, ‘Cuse upset the then No. 2 Clemson 27-24. In those games, the Orange were underdogs by 21.5 points and 21 points, respectively.
Last week, we saw the opening line move quite significantly as bettors moved throughout the week. It will be interesting to see if the same happens this week, as I’d imagine many will look at a home opener and historical trends.
No matter what, ‘Cuse is a big underdog, and Dino seems to do well in this scenario.
