After reeling off two straight wins to get to 3-2 on the year, the Syracuse Orange face a stiff test in week six against the Bye Week Fightin’ Byes. Granted, Bye Week’s never beaten Syracuse in the history of the series. But they’ll get two chances at trying to break that streak this year.
SU will open as 6.5-point favorites at home against the 0-5 Byes. Despite starting his tenure 0-41 at Bye Week U, Bino Dabers remains in charge as he continues the toughest rebuilding job in college football. The Fightin’ Byes have Dom TeVito under center this year, and he’ll be handing off primarily to standout rusher Noe Meal.
Bye Week’s strength is the offensive line, which should create an interesting matchup with the Orange’s strong defensive front. The Byes’ pass rush isn’t incredibly effective, which hopefully gives SU’s beleaguered line a break after coming under fire for much of the season so far.
We’ll see where the line goes from here, but early on, it seems like Vegas is at least hoping to gain some interest from bettors that continue to doubt Syracuse after an up-and-down start to the year.
