Each week, we’ll take a look at what those other college football media sites are saying about the Syracuse Orange.

AP and Coaches Poll:

Syracuse holds steady at 22 in this week’s Amway Coaches Poll. The Orange are between the Washington State Cougars and Stanford Cardinal

In the AP poll, Syracuse is up one spot to 21 this week slotting behind the Iowa Hawkeyes and in front of Washington State.

ESPN

Syracuse holds the 19th spot in this week’s top 25 Power Rankings and here’s what they had to say after the victory over Liberty

The Orange led the FBS in forced turnovers with 31 in 2018, which is a big reason they won 10 games in a season for the first time since 2001. Syracuse forced four more turnovers in a 24-0 victory over Liberty, which had minus-4 rushing yards and allowed eight sacks. Now Syracuse needs to eliminate its own mistakes, as new quarterback Tommy DeVito tossed two interceptions. DeVito completed 17 of 35 passes for 176 yards after replacing all-time leading passer Eric Dungey.

ESPN’s bowl predictions have the Orange heading to Miami for the Orange Bowl with the LSU Tigers or Penn State Nittany Lions as possible opponents while the Football Power Index puts Syracuse 44th. Note that Week two opponent the Maryland Terrapins are 34th in the FPI this week.

Syracuse.com’s Chris Carlson drops the Orange one spot to 3rd in his ACC Power Rankings this week moving them behind the Virginia Cavaliers.

The biggest surprise, however, was that the Orange took all of that dominance and turned it into just 24 points against a defense that wasn’t very good last season. New quarterback Tommy DeVito is going to grow weekly in his first year as the starter. His lesson from the first game should be that there’s never anything wrong with taking the free yards from a checkdown pass.

CBS Sports’ 1-130 puts Syracuse 20th this week between the Penn State Nittany Lions and the Virginia Cavailers. Maryland holds the 62nd spot in the CBS rankings.

The Athletic drops the Orange one spot to 24th in their Top 130 Power Rankings in between the Iowa Hawkeyes and Oklahoma State Cowboys. This week’s opponent Maryland is 61st in these rankings. Stewart Mandel has Syracuse facing the Ohio State Buckeyes in the Orange Bowl.
