Get to Know Your Orange Man: #90, DE Ishmael Goulbourne

The latest addition to the SU roster will learn behind the best this season.

NCAA Football: Florida State at Syracuse Rich Barnes-USA TODAY Sports

Name: Ishmael Goulbourne

Position: Defensive End

Year: Freshman

Height: 6’3”

Weight: 205

Hometown: West Palm Beach, Fla.

High School: Dwyer

2018 stats: Earned All-District honors for the Dwyer High School team he helped guide to an 11-2 record and to the Class 7A regional semifinals.

2019 projections: With the defensive line depth as strong as it is and Goulbourne being an undersized DE at 205 pounds, he seems like a strong candidate to redshirt as he learns the ropes from the likes of Alton Robinson and Kendall Coleman.

How’d he get here?: He picked Syracuse over the likes of Buffalo, Cincinnati, Tulane and Western Michigan.

What’d recruiting sites say?: Three stars from ESPN and 247, and two from Rivals (boooo).

Money quote: Dino’s very good at this (via his signing day welcome tweets).

“This Ish is bananas, B-A-N-A-N-A-S! Welcome to the family!”

Twitterfeed: @11k_IG

Tweets of wonder: Great special teams play? He’ll fit right in here.

What movie would Dino Babers recommend for him?: I mean... do we have to say it? Easiest candidate for the 1956 movie edition of “Moby Dick” starring Gregory Peck. You can call him Ishmael because that’s like actually his name.

Interesting nugget o’ interest: He attended Dwyer High School in Florida with Orange safety Cam Jonas.

Let’s get a good look at ya: Here are highlights from his senior year of high school
