Get to Know Your Orange Man: #7, S Andre Cisco

You already know the All-American safety, but just in case...

Name: Andre Cisco

Position: Free Safety

Year: Sophomore

Height: 6’0”

Weight: 203

Hometown: Valley Stream, N.Y.

High School: IMG Academy

2018 stats: In his first year with the Syracuse Orange, Cisco burst onto the scene — enough so that his level of play even overshadowed all of the Sisqo gifs we had planned. He played in all 13 games, starting 11 of those, while collecting an NCAA-high seven interceptions on the season. Andre was all-conference and received All-American honors. He also had 60 tackles, a tackle for loss, a forced fumble and 11 pass break-ups while improving nearly every week.

2019 projections: With a year under his belt and an offseason to continue improving, Cisco should be even better as a sophomore. He’s getting All-ACC and All-American talk yet again, and even if he falls short of last year’s big interception numbers, he’s still bound to make a major impact for SU.

How’d he get here?: Andre was a relatively late addition to the 2018 recruiting class, picking Syracuse over the likes of Nebraska, Vanderbilt, Illinois and Northwestern. We’re very glad he did.

What’d recruiting sites say?: They all said three stars, but if you ask them again, they’d probably say four (we’d guess).

Money quote: Whenever you have a Dino Babers quote like this about yourself, you know you’ve done something right.

“The thing that’s different, I want to talk about what’s different about Cisco, what’s different is he’s changed his body. He went down to Wal-Mart, got him some bi’s, some tri’s, and some pecs now, he must have got the pecs off the shelf, around aisle five, he has an upper body that is no joke. I want to see now if he can physically do some of the things from a skill set that we saw him do from an athletic ability as far as getting interceptions and doing other things on the back end.”

Tweets of wonder: Seems Babers wasn’t kidding when he said Cisco changed his body this offseason. Holy crap...

What movie would Dino Babers recommend for him?: Sisqo actually appeared in 2001’s romantic comedy “Get Over It” with Kirsten Dunst, Colin Hanks, Mila Kunis, Zoe Saldana and a really, just a surprising number of notable actors and actresses. It’s about a high school senior getting over a break-up. Movies were simple in this time period.

Interesting nugget o’ interest: Like Cisco, I also attended St. Anthony’s on Long Island, but never graduated from the school. Cisco left to play at IMG Academy for his final two years. I left after one year to go back to public school.

Let’s get a good look at ya: Plenty of videos to choose from on Cisco, but this one works.
