Name: Sterling Hofrichter
Position: Punter/Kickoff Specalist
Year: (Redshirt) Senior
Height: 5’9”
Weight: 199
Hometown: Valrico, Fla.
High School: Armwood
2018 stats: Hofrichter was second in the conference in punting average (42.9 yards per punt) and earned All-ACC honors following the season. He was the best in the league at pinning punts inside the 20-yard line with 26 on the year, and also had more than 10 punts of 50 or more yards.
2019 season projections: Would expect a good deal of the same from Hof from a punting perspective. He’s the best in the league in terms of pinning teams back and that should continue this fall based on the All-ACC selection he’s already received.
How’d he get here?: No one else offered him despite the fact that Hof was the one of the best punters in the class. Big win for the Syracuse Orange.
What’d recruiting sites say?: Three stars all around. Not bad for a punter, especially.
Money quote: If Dino says it, it must be true.
“Our punter is an NFL punter, write it down. He will kick in the National Football League.”

Tweets of wonder: How many punters in the country are capable of making tackles and recovering fumbles?

What movie would Dino Babers recommend for him?: Tisha Sterling appeared in 1968’s Coogan’s Bluff, which also featured Clint Eastwood. In the movie, an Arizona deputy sheriff has to go to New York City to escort a fugitive back West for trial.
Interesting nugget o interest: Hofricther’s actually the third college athlete in his family. Both his sister (Erin) and brother (Jonathan) were swimmers at North Florida and Tampa, respectively.
Let’s get a good look at ya: You’ve seen Hof’s great punts. Here’s him talking a bit.
