Name: Joe Rondi
Position: Defensive Tackle
Year: Freshman
Height: 6’4”
Weight: 255
Hometown: Wayne, N.J.
High School: Wayne Hills
2018 stats: Played both ways and was one of the top 50 players in New Jersey last season. He collected 89 tackles and nine sacks on the defensive side of the ball.
2019 projections: Rondi is likely to redshirt with a decent amount of experience ahead of him on the Syracuse Orange depth chart. But injuries could change that (so let’s hope that doesn’t occur).
How’d he get here?: Decided that an offer from nearby Rutgers didn’t matter, and that he wanted to play competitive football instead.
What’d recruiting sites say?: He was named a three-star prospect and a top player coming out of New Jersey. He was a top-100 defensive tackle in the class of 2019, too.
Money quote: Rondi was excited about the prospect of heading to Syracuse when media spoke to him during the early signing period.
“It’s a lot of emotions, but one thing on my mind right now is just getting ready this off-season to be a Division I athlete. I never dreamed of getting to this level, but now that it’s actually here it’s amazing. I am so blessed.”

Tweets of wonder: Former TNIAAM writer Sean Farrell is happy to point out to the New Jersey readers that Rondi’s Syracuse-bound.
Wayne Hills' Joe Rondi gets another sack. I'd like to mention once again for all of you that he's going to Syracuse.

What movie would Dino Babers recommend for him?: Rondi Reed has appeared in several films over the years, including 1993’s “Army of One.” In the movie, she plays Detective Chelsey. But the plot is mostly focused on Dolph Lundgren’s Wellman Anthony Santee — a framed prison escapee who accidentally kidnaps female office Rita Marrick (Kristian Alfonso).
Interesting nugget o’ interest: Joe knows former Syracuse star David Tyree, who lives near his family in Wayne.
Let’s get a good look at ya: The customary Hudl highlights.
