Name: Chris Elmore
Position: Fullback/Tight End
Year: Junior
Height: 6’0”
Weight: 299
Hometown: Chicago, Ill.
High School: Phillips Academy
2018 stats: Elmore played in all 13 games last season, mostly serving (extremely well) as a lead blocker in the run game. He did carry the ball three times for seven yards and two touchdowns, while also catching a six-yard pass (his only reception of the year) vs. West Virginia. Chris had a 12-yard kickoff return as well.
2019 projections: That’ll depend on his health. Elmore suffered a dreaded “lower body injury” during spring ball, and had surgery afterward. We haven’t really heard anything since. While we don’t want to assume anything, we may not see as much of him as assumed. That could be a real problem for the run game, especially as the Syracuse Orange replace several players on the offensive line.
How’d he get here?: Dino Babers flipped the former Western Michigan commit after P.J. Fleck departed a couple years ago. He had offers from a lot of MAC schools, though Syracuse seemed to be the only ones willing to give him a shot on offense (everyone else had him at defensive tackle).
What’d recruiting sites say?: Three stars from everyone.
Money quote: Last fall, Chris spoke to the Daily Orange about the tragic passing of his best friend Carliysia Clark in high school, and how it’s served as a point of motivation for him as a football player and a person.
“I sometimes wonder, if she was still here, would I be in the same spot that I am now? That always hits me. I don’t know if I’d still be here today if that didn’t happen.”

Tweets of wonder: Elmore decided to grab an additional souvenir with him from Syracuse’s big Camping World Bowl win over WVU.

What movie would Dino Babers recommend for him?: The late Elmore Leonard wrote the book “Out of Sight,” which would turn into a 1998 movie by the same name. In the film, George Clooney plays Jack Foley, a bank robber escaping from prison. Jennifer Lopez plays Federal Marshal Karen Cisco, who attempts to foil his plan before both discover a shared interest in classic Hollywood films.
Interesting nugget o’interest: Chris isn’t the only FBS player in the family. His younger brother Craig suits up for Kent State as a running back. While Craig redshirted last season, he finished his last high school season with 1,300 rushing yards and 25 touchdowns.
Let’s get a good look at ya: This one’s more of an interview, with some highlights as well.
