Atkinson, who received an offer after last weekend’s camp, also held an offer from in-state Coastal Carolina. The rising senior is listed as a safety on 247Sports, which has not yet rated him as a prospect, although the edit Atkinson tweeted lists him as a cornerback.
Atkinson led his high school with two interceptions last season, including one returned for a touchdown.
After meeting with the coaching staff last weekend, and exploring the campus, Atkinson felt comfortable choosing Syracuse. In an interview with Nate Mink of Syracuse.com, Atkinson pointed to the faculty surrounding Syracuse football as a deciding factor.
With the 2020 class now at 14 players, Syracuse remains active on the recruiting trail. Chase becomes the fourth defensive back in this class, and first CB. He joins Ben LaBrosse, Charles Bell and Robert Hanna as members of the 2020 secondary.
As TNIAAM pointed out the other day, there are still plenty of targets out there for the Orange as recruiting starts to heat up in the fall. In the meantime, you can check out some of Chase’s highlights below as well.
