Name: Russell Thompson-Bishop
Position: Wide receiver
Year: (Redshirt) Sophomore
Height: 6’1”
Weight: 215 lbs.
Hometown: Bloomfield, Conn.
High School: Bloomfield High School
2018 stats: Didn’t suit up for any games.
2019 projections: Given the depth at the receiver position and the fact that Thompson-Bishop isn’t one of the seven wideouts on their most recent Syracuse Orange depth chart, another year as a reserve is on it’s way, though he likely sees the field in one way or another.
How’d he get here?: Thompson-Bishop drew interest from Northeast schools like Temple, Army, UConn and Boston College before deciding to attend Syracuse.
What’d recruiting sites say?: Three stars from 247Sports and ESPN, with Scout and Rivals giving out a two-star rating.
Money quote: Here’s Thompson-Bishop on his commitment back in the summer of 2016.
“I chose Syracuse because it is the best of both worlds from the offers I have received. The coaching staff, campus, incoming team, and playing style had a big part to do in my decision. The way coach Babers wants to run the team fits me as a wide receiver and I love the quarterbacks.”

Tweets of wonder: Here’s Thompson-Bishop catching a pass toward the sideline from Tommy DeVito back in March.
Tommy DeVito was on the far side of the field and the only QB on that side so he was winding down by the time I got around. Here’s a couple sideline balls to Sharod Johnson and Russell Thompson-Bishop. pic.twitter.com/2YSo5Opbgg

What movie would Dino recommend for him?: Last year’s movie suggestion went to Russell Brand, so let’s go in the direction of Russell Crowe this time around. Babers definitely wants some fighters on the field, so Thompson-Bishop will have some film to study with the 2000 movie Gladiator.
Interesting nugget o’interest: Thompson-Bishop’s alma mater, Bloomfield High School, is the same as ‘Cuse and NFL star Dwight Freeney.
Let’s get a look at ya: Here’s some high school film from his senior year.
