Get to Know Your Orange Man: #18, WR Ed Hendrix

Will we see the former four-star wideout this fall?

NCAA Football: North Carolina State at Syracuse Rich Barnes-USA TODAY Sports

Name: Ed Hendrix

Position: Wide Receiver

Year: Redshirt Freshman

Height: 6’3”

Weight: 208 pounds

Hometown: Washington, D.C.

High School: H.D. Woodson

2018 stats: Redshirt season after injuring his knee during preseason camp.

2019 projections: The Orange are pretty deep at the receiver position, and Hendrix wasn’t one of the seven wideouts listed on the 2019 preseason depth chart that was released on July 16 — at least in part due to another injury sustained this spring. He could sneak his way up the list before Aug. 31 if he’s healthy, but a reserve role gives him another year to develop and make a strong impact when upperclassmen graduate out.

How’d he get here?: Hendrix elected to head to Central New York despite holding offers from Michigan State, Wisconsin, N.C. State, Louisville, Pitt and Boston College.

What’d recruiting sites say?: Hendrix earned a four-star rating from ESPN and three stars from all other sites.

Money quote: Here’s Hendrix on why he chose ‘Cuse over his laundry list of options.

“It’s been a long recruitment but Cuse showed me the most love and I know I will fit very well in their system.”

Tweets of wonder: You and me both, Ed

What movie would Dino recommend for him?: When your last name is the same as a famous personality, you’ll never hear the end of it. Coach Babers recommends “Jimi: All Is by My Side,” a drama based on the life of Jimi Hendrix.

Interesting nugget o’interest: Hendrix’s high school is known for producing football talent, with notable alumni including Orlando Brown, Byron Leftwich and Greg Brown.

Let’s get a look at ya: Here’s some high-school film.
