Syracuse men’s basketball completes non-conference schedule with Seattle

The Orange have been trying to reclaim Washington State ever since Keeley moved.

The Syracuse Orange men’s basketball team has completed its 2019-20 non-conference schedule following today’s announcement that the Seattle Redhawks are headed to the Carrier Dome on November 16 as part of the NIT Season Tip-Off.

Also included there is the date for the previously reported Bucknell game, which will take place on November 23 — four days before SU faces off with Oklahoma State at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.

But back to Seattle: The Redhawks went 18-15 overall and 6-10 in the WAC last season, finishing 190th in KenPom. After losing to Grand Canyon University in the first round of the WAC Tournament, they received an invite to the CIT but lost to Presbyterian there.

Seattle brings back five of their top six scorers from last season, and most of their top rebounders as well, so they could actually be a factor in the WAC. The Orange have never faced Seattle on the basketball court, but the move fits perfectly with Syracuse’s quest to take back the city since Keeley left (Hop being installed at UW being the first step).

Here’s the full non-conference schedule now. It’s potentially devoid of a real marquee team, but hopefully the ACC slate makes up for it.

November 13: Colgate Raiders

November 16: Seattle Redhawks

November 20: Cornell Big Red

November 23: Bucknell Bison

November 27: Oklahoma State Cowboys, NIT Season Tip-Off (Brooklyn)

November 29: Ole Miss Rebels / Penn State Nittany Lions, NIT Season Tip-Off (Brooklyn)

December 3: Iowa Hawkeyes

December 14: at Georgetown Hoyas

December 18: Oakland Golden Grizzlies

December 21: North Florida Ospreys

December 28: Niagara Purple Eagles
