The Syracuse Orange are going to open their 2019 home slate of games versus the defending National Champion Clemson Tigers. This will also be Homecoming Weekend. The game is sold out. There’s a distinct possibility College GameDay makes an appearance. If you thought things couldn’t get crazier, think again.
The Orange will kickoff vs. the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC — a true nationally televised primetime game. This is easily one of the biggest games in modern ‘Cuse football history, if just for the fact that this timing is based solely on the narrative that the Orange are improving and Babers has given Dabo and Clemson fits the last two seasons. Having a primetime game doesn’t guarantee College Gameday is arriving, but it’ll certainly help out a ton assuming both teams can come into this one at 2-0.
Syracuse played a nationally-televised home game on Saturday night last year vs. NC State, though that was on ESPN2. The last ESPN primetime Saturday home game was back in 2001 vs. Auburn. The last ABC primetime Saturday game was definitely over 20 years ago.
