The Syracuse Orange wrapped up spring practice on Saturday with their scrimmage in the Dome, but the 2020 recruiting is just starting to heat up. A day after landing a commitment from Sean Tucker the Orange secured a commitment from another Maryland running back, Marlowe Wax.
The 6’0, 219 pound Wax is finishing his junior year at Mount St. Joseph High School in Baltimore, and he’s rated 3 stars by 247Sports and 2 stars by Rivals. Wax had offers from Pittsburgh, Temple, East Carolina, Marshall, Kent State and Toledo. The 247 composite rankings have him listed as one of the top 100 running backs in the class.
Last season, Wax carried the ball 138 times for 1046 yards and 17 touchdowns and he looks like he would provide a physical inside running option for the Orange. Syracuse continues adding depth to the backfield and giving Dino Babers the type of inside rushing attack his offense likes to utilize.
Wax becomes the third 2020 commit for Syracuse thus far, joining Tucker and defensive end Kevin Lemieux.
Here are some highlights from Wax’s game against Tucker and Calvert Hill last Fall.
