A quick glance at the overall record of the Syracuse Orange Women’s Ice Hockey team might make you think they were just playing out the string. The 10-19-3 overall record masks the fact that the Orange head into their final regular season series with a chance of winning the CHA regular season championship. Syracuse is 10-6-2 in conference play and sits three points behind Robert Morris their opponent this weekend.

Head Coach Paul Flanagan told the media that the team stuck together even when they struggled to get wins and now they are seeing results from their perseverance.

Allie Munroe leads the Orange with 24 points on the season while Emma Polaski and Brooke Avery are the leading goal scorers with 11 and 9 respectively. Polaski was named CHA Player of the Week after scoring 5 points to lead the Orange to a sweep of Lindenwood University last weekend. Abby Moloughney also added five points over the weekend which earned her CHA Rookie of the Week honors.

After the series against Robert Morris, Syracuse will head to next week’s CHA Tournament in Buffalo looking to earn the program’s 1st ever NCAA berth. The Orange have made the CHA Championship game six times in the program’s history.
