The Syracuse Orange bounced back after its loss to Florida State earlier in the week to win 67-56 over Boston College on Saturday. The win moves Syracuse to 17-7 overall and 8-3 in the conference. The Eagles were without freshman Wynston Tabbs for the fifth straight game and Ky Bowman came off the bench today for violating team rules, but he made things interesting down the stretch.
Still, Syracuse did enough to keep the Eagles at bay and avoided the scare to earn the win.
Not so bubblicious Orange
In years of recent past, these were the sorts of games that on-the-bubble Syracuse would have dropped. The Orange swept both Pittsburgh and Boston College for the first time since joining the ACC (H/T: John for that). The 2016-2018 Syracuse bubble teams dropped to at least one of those two aforementioned squads. Maybe Syracuse is slightly above the bubble this season?
Young Syracuse fan going to Disney!
During a first half media a timeout, 13-year old Noah Satterlee was brought onto the court for a “contest” only to find out that he’d be going to Disney World. Satterlee has a life-threatening immune disorder and will be heading to Orlando through the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Noah’s favorite sport is basketball and his favorite team is Syracuse, so this was a great way to honor the announcement. Awesome moment here that the entire community can get behind. Enjoy the trip, Noah!
How cool is this!? Through @makeawishcny 13-Year Old Noah Satterlee thinks he's in a contest .. finds out while watching his beloved Orange that he is going to Disney World! Buddy Boeheim earns career highs against Boston College
Buddy Boeheim really enjoys playing against BC. In the first meeting at Conte Forum, he tied his career-high with 13 points.
The younger Boeheim took it a step further today against BC by scoring a new career-high 16 points on 4-5 shooting from deep. He had 3 steals in the game too.
Late in the game with over one minute remaining, Boeheim caught the ball open on the wing with Syracuse up 10. The crowd begged for him to shoot but instead he made the right play and held onto the ball until he was fouled.
Jim Boeheim then turned to the crowd with disgust. After the game he said he wished the crowd wouldn’t tell him to shoot when he told Buddy not to. He later noted that the fans have been great all year.
Oshae Brissett is double-double trouble
For the third consecutive game, Oshae Brissett recorded a double-double. He finished his night with 12 points and 12 rebounds, 4 of which came on the offensive end. Brissett has been aggressive on the boards of late and he’s been more content to work in and around the high- to low-post.
Syracuse survives late scare
Syracuse was up 20 points with over 8-minutes remaining in the game when Jim Boehiem turned to his bench. Ky Bowman then went off to boost BC en route to a 14-0 run and cut the Orange lead to just six.
Syracuse had to put the starters back in the game and ultimately survived the scare, winning 67-56.
