New, comments

The 3-star defensive end provides a huge boost to the 2019 class late in the cycle.

Welcome to college football’s 2019 National Signing Day! After adding 17 players during the early signing period in December, the Syracuse Orange are hoping to finish the class strong today. As each player signs, we’ll be posting profiles here on TNIAAM. Next up? A late addition to the defensive line, Jason Muñoz.

Hometown: Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Previous School: St. Thomas Aquinas

Position: Defensive End

Stats: 6’4”, 276 lbs.

Commitment date: January 28, 2019

Ratings: Three stars everywhere!

Other Offers: Munoz originally committed to the University of Miami over the likes of Mizzou, Pitt, BC, and Maryland. However, the Hurricanes released him from his letter of intent following Mark Richt’s departure, and he committed to the Orange.

Dino’s projected nickname: Probably some pun off of Anthony Muñoz’s demented pinky finger...

Highlights:

Player outlook: Muñoz’s commitment helps to add more depth to a position group that will be hit hard by graduation after the 2019 campaign. Muñoz’s size will probably help him get on the field, since he could very easily bulk up and shift to the inside should the need arise. He’s a good candidate to at least get in the rotation following a redshirt season, if not compete for a starting job.
