Wolfpack Point Guard Kevin Keatts Looks to Drop a Dime against the Cuse

Clang, clang, clang, clang … on a night when Syracuse shot 35% from the field with 20% from 3-point range (and only 50% from the charity stripe) it was fitting that the team bricked four attempts, sandwiched around 3 ugly turnovers, before the ball went into the hoop for the first SCOFF (Stop Clapping Orange Faithful Fans) of the night. And, fittingly it was Frank Howard – the only Orangeman to score from beyond the arc all night – who finally sat the clapping fans down at an agonizing TOF (Time on Feet) of 4:20.

Things got off to a better start in the second half, as surprise replacement starter Bourama Sidibe snared an OReb and jammed home a dunk off a feed from Elijah Hughes at 0:34 TOF. This was Sidibe’s first SCOFF of the season, a deserving honor to accompany his 6-rebound effort in 18 solid minutes of play.

Despite going SCOFF-less (and pretty much MIA in Raleigh), Elijah Hughes maintains his season lead, as shown in the summary below. The game-by-game breakdown, with TOFs, follows.

Fun Fact: Despite missing four 2-pointers before finally scoring in the first half against the Wolfpack, that dubious feat had been previously eclipsed in the Duke game in Durham, where the Orange clanged five heaves before finally getting on the board at a season-high TOF of 4:41. In terms of sheer futility, the second half of the ODU "Debacle in the Dome" - where SU fans were forced to stand through six misses before Hughes earned one of his many SCOFFs - remains the Platinum Standard.
