The Syracuse Orange track and field teams spent last weekend looking to get qualifying performances for the ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships and several Syracuse athletes did just that.
Senior Kadejhia Sellers ran a 53.65 in the 400m in Boston to take over the top spot in the ACC. Sellers is also currently holding the 10th fastest time in the 200m and she will be looking to win her first ACC title in two weeks. Aviana Goode is in 6th position in the high jump and 13th in the long jump.
At Iowa State on Friday evening, Paige Stoner clocked a 15:55 5000m to get herself into the 5th spot in the ACC at that distance. Laura Dickinson holds the 9th position in the event. Rachel Bonner is enjoying a breakthrough season as she currently ranks 6th in the 3000m and 13th in the mile
For the Orange men both Iliass Aouani and Noah Affolder turned in strong performances over the weekend. Aouani ran a 13:51 5k in Boston to move into 2nd in that event while he also sits in 5th in the 3k. Right ahead of him in the 3k is Affolder who turned in an 8:01 at Iowa State last Friday. Joe Dragon gives the Orange a 3rd member in the top 10 in the event. Syracuse also has three top 10 performances in the 5k: Aouani, Dragon (6th) and Kevin James (9th). The Orange have two top-10 performers in the Mile: Aidan Tooker (1st), Michael Phillips (8th) and 60m hurdles: Matt Moore (3rd) and Richard Floyd (4th).
Syracuse will have athletes competing at Cornell this weekend but expect the majority of the team to be off with the ACC Indoor Championships starting next week at Virginia Tech.
