A win wasn’t the only award for the Syracuse Orange football team following a thrilling 39-30 overtime win over Wake Forest on Saturday. The ACC announced players of the week on Monday, and included in that group were two different Syracuse players: Defensive back Trill Williams and kicker Andre Szmyt.
Congrats to the season's final Players of the Week!

Trill collected a career-high eight tackles against Wake, but his biggest moment was on the game’s final play. As it looked like the Deacons’ Kendall Hinton was about to run in for the game-winning score in OT, Williams stripped the receiver of the football and returned it the length of the field for a touchdown.
Despite a season where he didn’t put up the big numbers from last year, Szmyt’s still been a reliable kicker in 2019. He showed just how reliable on Saturday, going 4-of-4 on tries — including one to put SU ahead 30-27 with less than a minute remaining in the game, and the go-ahead field goal on the first possession overtime.
A nice honor for both players as the year comes to a close. Congrats to Trill and Andre. And hopefully we’ll be seeing at least a few Orange names when all-conference teams appear in the coming days.
