Welcome to college football’s early signing period! Despite the disappointment on the field this fall the Syracuse Orange are hoping to add key components to get back to bowl eligibility in 2020. As each player signs, we’ll be posting profiles here on TNIAAM. Next up is safety Robert Hanna.
Twitter feed: @cityrob_305
Hometown: Miami, Fla.
High School: Miami Palmetto
Weight: 170 lbs.
Commitment date: June 22, 2019
Ratings: Three Stars all around!
Other offers: There was lots of ACC competition for Hanna, including hometown Miami, Pitt, UNC and Louisville.
Dino’s predicted nickname: Coming from Miami, I have to imagine there’s a Pitbull reference, so I’m going with at least one Mr. 305 reference with a deep cut of Bad Man.
Player outlook: Syracuse has plenty of defensive backs waiting in the wings to replace Christopher Fredrick, Antwan Cordy, Scoop Bradshaw, and Evan Foster. That said, only Allen Stritzinger stands out as anyone with some experience that could be safely considered in the rotation. Hanna won’t be an early enrollee, but there’s a chance he impresses early and gets special teams work, which leads to snaps in early games. 2021 and beyond? He should be another athletic defensive back that can step up and get a starting role as early as ‘21.
