Early signing period: 2020 DE Kevin Lemieux signs with Syracuse

Another defensive end pickup. This one is from Massachusetts.

Syracuse v Maryland

Welcome to college football’s early signing period! Despite the disappointment on the field this fall the Syracuse Orange are hoping to add key components to get back to bowl eligibility in 2020. As each player signs, we’ll be posting profiles here on TNIAAM. Next up is defensive end Kevin Lemieux.

Hometown: Byfield, Mass.

High School: The Governors Academy

Position: Defensive end

Height: 6’4”

Weight: 235 lbs.

Commitment date: March 24, 2019

Ratings: Mostly three stars, two by Rivals.

Other offers: One of the earliest Orange commits, since March 24, he also saw offers from Rutgers, Army and UMass.

Dino’s predicted nickname: I’m not sure how much of a hockey fan Dino is, but the options always there to call him “Mario.” That said, if the Boston area native is a Bruins fan, he may not like that too much.

Highlights:

Player outlook: He looks more the prototype end with his frame, rather than a tweener that would be converted to outside linebacker, as sometimes happens. As such, the roster looks to have a few folks in front of Lemieux, in Josh Black and Kingsley Johnathon to start, then Drew Tuazama and Steve Linton, but there’s some room for growth and a good season to redshirt and get into the system for the Massachusetts product.
