The Syracuse Orange football team will be closing out the regular season at home against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons on November 30. This was known, though the time wasn’t until today. It looks like the leaves will need to be raked in the morning, as the last home game of the year will kick off at 12:30 p.m. ET and can be found on your local RSN affiliate (haven’t escaped these just yet, apparently).
The Orange, (4-6, 1-5), will take on the Deacs (7-3, 3-3), in the final regular season game of the 2019 campaign. The all time series sits with Syracuse in the driver’s seat at 5-3, and since the Orange joined the ACC it’s 4-2 in favor of the Orange. Thankfully for Syracuse, the game will be played in the Carrier Dome.
Wake Forest has lost two straight ACC games, and three of their last five, after a hot start on the season. The losses have come in a shootout to Syracuse’s next opponent, the Louisville Cardinals, 62-59, and then losses to ranked teams in Virginia Tech and Clemson these past two weeks. On the flip side, the Deacs were only able to edge Florida State in a weird ACC year all around.
Last year, the Orange prevailed 41-24 in a shootout at BB&T Field. The Orange rushed for 280 yards of offense and five touchdowns, including Eric Dungey scrambling for 119 yards on his own. The close game at halftime blew open in the second half from both teams, with the explosiveness of the Orange taking over for the victory.
It’s all predicated on what happens to Syracuse against Louisville, but this matchup to close the season out will either be to save face on the season, or to send the Orange bowling.
