Syracuse vs. Florida State: Orange open as 10.5-point underdogs at Seminoles

Based on the comments, Vegas may have more faith in Syracuse than the Orange fan base does.

The Syracuse Orange football team (3-4, 0-3) is reeling after two straight losses, but Saturday’s opponent, the Florida State Seminoles (3-4, 2-3) aren’t faring much better after two defeats of their own.

But for reasons we’d probably agree with, SU finds itself opening as a 10.5-point underdog this weekend, according to VegasInsider.

Syracuse beat Florida State for just the second time ever last fall, by a score of 30-7. However, this isn’t that Orange team and it’s also not the same ‘Noles squad. Both teams have struggled to score points of late. FSU has also had a rough time with second halves (while ‘Cuse has actually been a much better team in the second half lately).

As has been the case for weeks now, I personally wouldn’t place a wager on this Syracuse team — in part because I have strict rules against betting on games involving my teams, and also because you really have no idea what you’re getting from SU right now. Is Tommy DeVito healthy? Who’s coming back from injury for the Orange, if anyone? Is the offensive line making changes to net a different result than the carnage we’ve witnessed these past two games?

Still, it’s probably a smart line that encourages action on both sides since there will be detractors around both happy to cash in on their misfortune.
