Class of 2020 recruit Andre Jackson commits to UConn over Syracuse

We haven’t seen UConn earn a comeback like this over Syracuse since the 1998 Big East Tournament title game.

Class of 2020 recruiting target Andre Jackson has committed to UConn, the Albany City Rocks wing announced on Wednesday. Jackson, the No. 70 ranked recruit in his class, chose the Huskies over Iowa, Maryland, UCLA and Syracuse.

Jackson made his decision Wednesday afternoon at his high school, Albany Academy.

“Syracuse has been around since the jump,” He told TNIAAM back in August. “They’ve been on me heavy ever since they even started recruiting me.

“UConn, same way. They’ve recruited me since sophomore year.”

Syracuse was widely considered the favorite to land Jackson throughout the process by most recruiting experts, until his visit to UConn on Sept. 21. He then cancelled his visit to Iowa, which was originally scheduled for last weekend.

In August, Jackson noted that a solid strength and conditioning program and trust between he and his coach would be among his deciding criteria, on top of being able to have the ball in his hands in his first- or second-year.

The Orange will shift focus to Isaiah Jackson in the class of 2020, who just named SU among his top three schools after visiting last weekend. Isaiah Jackson is ranked No. 25 in the class.

Syracuse has already secured a commitment from top 100 wing Woody Newton for next year.
