Syracuse football opens as 2.5-point underdog vs. Pittsburgh

Expected, at this point.

NCAA Football: Syracuse at Pittsburgh Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

Following Thursday’s disappointing effort against NC State, the Syracuse Orange football team is back in action at home on Friday against the Pittsburgh Panthers. And they’ll start off as 2.5-point underdogs, according to VegasInsider.

Syracuse lost to Pitt, 44-37 in overtime last year, as you may unfortunately recall. The year before, they beat the Panthers 27-24 at the Dome. Five of the last seven games in the series have been decided by seven points or less, though SU’s won just two of them (2017 and 2012).

While Syracuse is 3-3 on the year (0-2 in the ACC), Pitt is 4-2 (1-1 in the ACC), and have won three straight games. They’re 4-2 against the spread as well this year, and SU’s 2-4.

Anyone wagering on this game at all? Personally don’t have enough confidence in the Orange offense given what we’ve seen, and Pitt’s always far too random to know what you’ll get from them on a given game day. But hey, if you’re in a betting mood, have at it.
