Quote from Boeheim’s Army General Manager Kevin Belbey to TNIAAM -
Original Story
The Basketball Tournament (TBT) has become an annual summer tradition for Syracuse fans. Boeheim’s Army (BA), a team of former ‘Cuse basketball stars headed by former manager Kevin Belbey, is the object of our attention in the months before football season as we’re still recovering from whatever happened to the Orange in March.
This year, TBT is changing up their tournament. Eight alumni teams will “host” a regional round in their home city, spread over two weekends. Boeheim’s Army and Syracuse, NY are one of the host cities, with games to be played at Onondaga Community College. The quarterfinals, semifinals and finals will all be held in Chicago at DePaul University.

The full list of host cities, by weekend hosting, are:
- July 19-21: Columbus, OH (Ohio State Alumni), Lexington, KY (Bluegrass Boys), Greensboro, NC (CP3), Memphis, TN (Memphis Alumi)
- July 25-28: Syracuse, NY, July 26-28 (Boeheim’s Army) , Salt Lake City, UT (Team Fredette), Wichita, KS (AfterShocks), Richmond, VA (Ram Nation)
While BA has yet to win TBT, they’ve made the finals and routinely advance to the tournament’s final 16. A “home” matchup for the first few games should help advance the team to the quarterfinals in Chicago.
What do you think? Do you like this new format? Think it gives too much advantage to the hosts? Let us know in the comments.
