Your 2019 Oscars Best Picture Nominees as ACC Basketball Teams

Who will take home the coveted trophy

NCAA Basketball: Syracuse at Duke Rob Kinnan-USA TODAY Sports

Yesterday the 2019 Oscars nominees were announced and with the Syracuse Orange right in the midst of the ACC schedule it got us headed down the #jokesandgarbage content path. So we decided to match the Best Picture category with ACC Basketball squads so let’s meet this year’s nominees:

Boeheimian Rhapsody.... oh we mean Bohemian Rhapsody. Obviously this one pairs with the Syracuse Orange because the story about a young man who leaves behind his family tradition and becomes the front man for a legendary group is indeed the Jim Boeheim story. Be sure to stay through the end credits for a special performance of “We Will Zone You”.

A Star is Born. This is certainly the Duke Blue Devils. You might be sick of all the Zion Williamson talk but the fact remains that he’s an incredible player and entertaining to watch. Will fighting with RJ Barrett over NBA #1 pick status ruin Duke’s season or can this relationship blossom in April?

The Favourite goes to the Virginia Cavailers because they were the pre-season darlings but once Zion arrived and wowed everyone with his freakish athleticism a lot of people forgot about Jack Salt’s charming accent and Ty Jerome’s facial hair. Can they reclaim their position at the top?

Green Book goes to the Florida State Seminoles. We expected the Seminoles to have smooth sailing into the post-season but after some early bumps in the road, Leonard Hamilton might want to bring in someone to provide security as he travels through the rest of the schedule

Black Panther goes to the North Carolina Tar Heels. Look beyond the “aw shucks” demeanor of Roy WIlliams and see that they have good reason to keep the outside world away. They don’t want anyone to know all the advantages they hold until they decide to finally share their secrets for beating the NCAA Enforcement staff.

BlacKkKlansman is admittedly a tough one to peg due to the name itself, along with the subject matter. However, this one goes to the N.C. State Wolfpack. Kevin Keatts comes to town and tries to make his mark by emulating the fast-paced style of Duke and UNC. Will those teams figure out that he’s infiltrated them with undercover operative Torin Dorn?

Roma goes to the Louisville Cardinals. Chris Mack comes into a program in turmoil and while everyone expects him just to try and keep things afloat, he leads his charges to prosperity.

Vice is the story of Virginia Tech Hokies Head Coach Buzz Williams. It follows his rise from humble beginnings at a JUCO to his current success with Virginia Tech. Will Buzz be content to stay behind the scenes or does he crave all the power?

You can find out who takes the Oscar in February but the true prize of the ACC Championship will take a little longer. Who will win this year’s coveted prize? Make your predictions in the comments below
