The final Fall standings for the Learfield Directors’ Cup were released on Thursday, and the Syracuse Orange stand in 19th place with 208 points. Syracuse is right between the USC Trojans and Colorado Buffaloes, and are one of eight ACC teams in the top 20.
As usual, the Stanford Cardinal are out to a big early lead and since the Cardinal will win this competition it gives the Pac -12 a ray of sunshine in the bleak year for the “Conference of Champions” revenue sports.
Syracuse was led this fall by football who earned 60 points for their No. 15 ranking. This is the first time that the Orange have earned points on the gridiron since 2013 and those points helped Syracuse keep their top 20 spot. Syracuse received 50 points from volleyball and men’s soccer while men’s cross-country contributed 48 points from their NCAA finish.
The next update will be on March 21st and we’ll see if SU is able to add any points from track and field.
