We’d long known that the Syracuse Orange (2-0, 0-0)) vs. Florida State Seminoles (1-1, 0-1) would be on one of the ESPN networks. Now we know which of those they’ll be broadcast on.
SU will host the Florida State Seminoles at noon ET on ESPN. It’s the Orange’s first nooner this season after a night game in week one and a 3:30 start in week two. It’s the first day game for Florida State this year.
Syracuse comes in at 2-0, with back-to-back performances putting up 50 or more points. The Orange beat Western Michigan 55-42 in week one, then followed that up by coasting past Wagner, 62-10 this Saturday. Florida State, on the other hand, hasn’t had the same smooth sailing. FSU lost to Virginia Tech in a turnover-marred 24-3 Labor Day opener, then squeaked by Samford on Saturday night, 36-26.
Though SU has yet to beat Florida State since joining the ACC (the ‘Noles and Louisville are the only Atlantic Division teams without a loss to the Orange since 2013), they came awful close last year. Behind an injured Eric Dungey, SU battled back from a touchdown deficit at halftime, and could’ve forced overtime with a Cole Murphy field goal as time expired. However, the kick missed and Florida State picked up a 27-24 victory.
Vegas hasn’t published a line for this latest iteration of the matchup yet, though ESPN’s FPI matchup predictor gives Syracuse a 57-percent shot at a win. Do with that what you will...
