The Syracuse Orange football team is close to finally getting back into the top 25 rankings even after a 27-23 loss to the Clemson Tigers on Saturday.
Syracuse remains in 28th spot in the USA Today Coaches Poll this week with 48 votes. The Orange are behind the South Florida Bulls and Florida Gators in the also receiving votes category. Next week while the Orange travel to take on the Pitt Panthers, USF is on the road at UMass while Florida will host the LSU Tigers.
In the AP poll, Syracuse is in 28th place this week with 74 votes. The Oklahoma State Cowboys grabbed the final spot with 88 votes while the Boise State Broncos (86) and USF Bulls (83) were ahead of the Orange. Syracuse hasn’t been ranked in the AP poll since 2001.
This progress won’t mean much unless Syracuse takes care of business next week against Pitt. It’s important for the Orange to keep the momentum moving forward if they want to continue to draw the attention of the AP voters and coaches.
