The Syracuse Orange football team is 4-0, but that doesn’t necessarily mean Las Vegas believes they can beat the Clemson Tigers this weekend.
SU opened as a 21-point underdog on Sunday according to Vegas Insider, and the line moved up swiftly from there. As of this writing (late Sunday night), the line was bouncing between 22.5 and 23 points per game.
Syracuse was a 23.5-point underdog last year before beating the Tigers at the Carrier Dome, 27-24. The upset was among the biggest stories of the 2017 regular season. Despite SU being 4-0 going into this season’s matchup, an upset would also rock the sport this time around (and also potentially announce the Orange as a legitimate ACC contender).
The Orange are 3-1 against the spread this year, with last week’s game against UConn coming up as a push on most sportsbooks (the line was -30 in favor of the Huskies). Clemson, on the other hand, is 1-3 against the spread in 2018.
SU and the Tigers will kick off at noon ET on Saturday from Clemson’s Memorial Stadium. You’ll be able to catch the game on ABC as well, in what should be one of the more interesting games of the early part of the weekend schedule.
Anyone have the stones to take the bet this time around?
