Less than a week after the ACC men’s basketball schedule dropped, the women’s basketball schedule has also appeared. Obviously, on top of all of the other games, that includes all conference games for the Syracuse Orange women’s squad.
Among some of the notable dates for SU this year: They’ll open on the road against the Clemson Tigers on January 3, and the conference home opener is set for Sunday, January 13 against the North Carolina Tar Heels. The Orange host defending national champion, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, on February 25, plus go on the road to face fellow ACC Final Four participant Louisville on February 7.
As you may remember, Syracuse went 22-9 overall last year, and 10-6 in conference play, though fell in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. They bring back nearly all scoring from 2017-18, including one of the country’s top guards in Tiana Mangakahia. They’ll also add a top-10 recruiting class led by McDonald’s All-American Emily Engstler.
The 15 ACC games make 27 games in all. It’s not necessarily clear if that will do it for the schedule, or if the Orange will add one more. They’ve typically had 13 non-conference games in the past. There’s potential for an additional game in December, as you’ll see below.
Here’s your full schedule, and please, go to some games this year if you’re in the area. They’re cheap, the team’s a lot of fun and they’re almost certainly NCAA Tournament-bound yet again. Mangakahia’s an insanely good passer. This is a no-brainer if you like quality basketball.
