The rematch you’ve either been waiting for, or dreading depending on your level of pessimism, now has an official start time. The Syracuse Orange’s game at the Clemson Tigers on Saturday, Sept. 29 will air at noon ET on ABC. And if you’re into getting ahead of yourself, that game should feature two 4-0 teams, one in the top three in the country, and one working to crack the top-25.

The Tigers are unbeaten and have whooped up on some inferior competition (Furman, Georgia State), and have also gone on the road and eked out a rather impressive non-conference victory at Texas A&M, 28-26. This weekend brings the first ACC game of the season for Dabo Swinney’s crew: a road trip to 1-2 Georgia Tech.

Meanwhile, as everyone around these parts knows, Syracuse is 3-0 after pounding Florida State, 30-7 on Saturday at the Dome. That record should improve by a win with lowly Connecticut coming to town this weekend (Saturday, 4 p.m.). Which, of course, will put SU at 4-0 for the first time since 1991, meaning the game down in South Carolina could be one of the most hyped contests for the Orange in years.

And any promotional video will feature plenty of highlights from the last time these two conference foes faced each other. You might remember the night of October 13, 2017, when the Orange stunned the No. 2 Tigers, 27-24. That game, that win for SU was one of the biggest in modern program history. Something that, even though Syracuse didn’t get another W afterward last season, could still be viewed as visible evidence of real positive change being brought in by Dino Babers.

Before we get too far down that road, however, the Orange will have to take care of business against the Huskies first. Assuming that happens, get ready for what should be one very interesting week for Syracuse football.
