Name: Gabe Horan
Position: Tight End
Year: Freshman
Height: 6’6”
Weight: 260
Hometown: Baldwinsville, N.Y.
High School: Charles W. Baker
2017 stats: Horan had a solid senior campaign, with 12 receptions from the tight end spot for 207 yards and two touchdowns.
2018 projections: He’ll most likely end up redshirting this year, unless things go really sideways with the tight ends. Pierce and Hackett should take the brunt of the rotation, so it would be good to see Horan get a year of college weights and training in. He’s got the frame that could grow into something special.
How’d he get here?: He was the first commit of the 2018 Syracuse Orange class. He committed early, but already had offers from Boston College and Buffalo as well.
What’d recruiting sites say?: Three stars everywhere they rate people.
Money quote: Glad to see the coaches want him at his natural position, but also great to see him willing to move inside if he needs to.
“The coaches see me at tight end, but if I put on 30 pounds they might move me to tackle,” Horan said. “As of now they want me at tight end. They can see me catching the ball and putting me on the line to block, too.”

What movie would Dino recommend for him?: The Usual Suspects, starring Gabriel Byrne as Keaton. Because it’s The Usual Suspects, do you need another reason?
Interesting nugget o’interest: If somehow you folks didn’t realize, Horan is coming from a bit of an athlete factory at present. C.W. Baker has produced current professional athletes including Alex Bono (GK, Toronto FC), Alex Tuch (F, Las Vegas Golden Knights), Cristoval Nieves (F, New York Rangers) and recent retiree Jason Grilli (P, Toronto Blue Jays). I’d say he’s coming from alright athletic stock...
