Name: Dontae Strickland

Position: Running back

Year: Senior

Height: 5’11”

Weight: 204 lbs.

Hometown: Dayton, N.J.

High School: South Brunswick

2017 stats: He played 10 games in 2017 and started nine of them. Strickland was third on the team in rushing with 482 carries and averaged 3.8 yards per rush. He had four rushing touchdowns on the year, including a 45-yarder before the brutal second half collapse to Wake Forest. He also added 18 catches for 142 yards and two scores.

2018 stats: I expect Strickland to be about as productive this year. The average per carry should go up as the offensive line improves, but his touches should be around the same. Him and Moe Neal will be two of the main focal points for the offense, so they should probably receive a larger chunk of the receiving touches for the Syracuse Orange.

How’d he get here?: He had offers from Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, UVA, and Rutgers, but he decided to go with Cuse: smart choice.

What’d recruiting sites say?: 3-stars all around!

Money quote: Moe Neal likes the upside of SU’s running backs.

“We’re coming back experienced. Dontae, he’s a senior. I’m coming into my junior year, and I think the offensive line is much better than it has been in the past. We feel comfortable taking that load off Dungey and being able to run the ball.”

Tweets of wonder: Uhhhh sure?

What movie would Dino recommend for him?: The 1988 thriller Die Hard is an all-time classic. It features Bruce Willis, who is also from New Jersey. Honestly, if you haven’t watched this movie, I’m not quite sure what you’re doing.

Interesting nugget o’interest: In the upset against Virginia Tech in 2016, he threw an 84-yard touchdown pass to Brisly Estime. Impressive.

Let’s get a look at ya: Here are his highlights from 2017, check them out!
