The Syracuse Orange’s opening game is on Friday, and among other things, that means we’ve received an early look at the team’s uniform combination when they take the field against the Western Michigan Broncos.
As SU’s official football feed pointed out, we’ll be wearing orange helmets, white jerseys and orange pants for the matchup.

Syracuse has worn these duds four other times, and unfortunately we’ve lost all of those games. The last instance was 2017s 27-24 loss at Florida State. The Orange also wore these in losses against Pittsburgh (2016), NC State (2015) and Florida State (2015). You’ll remember the Pitt game as the barnburner that set just about every record in the book...
Despite being our primary helmets (or maybe because they are), the orange lids are 8-21 since we introduced this uniform set back in 2014. White jerseys are a putrid 4-14, showing some real struggles on the road of late. SU’s Orange pants are at least a bit more respectable 7-12. Notably, the orange jerseys are the only uniform element with a winning record (6-4) so far.
So what do you think? Happy with a look that’s at least orange-hued? Wish we’d just done some color-on-color in this one against WMU’s black jerseys? Share your own hot uniform takes below.
